MCAT
MCAT Basics
The test for Medical College Admissions is known as the MCAT. This is the entrance exam used for acceptance into most medical schools in the US and Canada, and it was designed by the AAMC, (Association of American Medical Colleges).
Areas Tested by the MCAT
Your skills in critical thinking, reading, writing and scientific reasoning, and your general knowledge in both physical and biological sciences will be tested. April and August are the two months that the MCAT is given. The four sections of the MCAT covered are: Verbal Reasoning, Physical Sciences, (including Physics and General Chemistry), Writing Sample and Biological Sciences (including Biology and Organic Chemistry). Be prepared to spend an entire day taking the exam, from 8:00 am through 5:00 pm.

When to Take the MCAT
It is advisable to take the MCAT in April, so you can submit applications to medical school in June. If you take the test in August you will most certainly be rushed, (and late registration fee will be charged). The MCAT cost is $175. Once you receive your test results, they are given to the schools of your choice.
